Randomguy Posted January 11, 2021 Share #1 Posted January 11, 2021 I wore shorts when doing laundry last night, so I looked at my legs. They do not look like athlete's legs, and look considerably flabbier and less toned than late summer when I was riding a little bit. Why does this happen? I really only had a chance to start getting some small amount of fitness before it got cold, too, so it wasn't like I was some super-fit olympian or anything.

That didn't happen to me this time. Really ever. It is a good thought, though.
az_cyclist Posted January 12, 2021 Share #7 Posted January 12, 2021 I have some nicks and scars on my shins. They are fairly toned. They are stocky, more like a defensive lineman than a cyclist.

ChrisL Posted January 12, 2021 Share #15 Posted January 12, 2021 I have my moms genes, stocky upper body but skinny legs. They are pretty toned though. As I’m still wearing shorts tan too!

Ralphie ★ Posted January 12, 2021 Share #17 Posted January 12, 2021 Mine used to be pretty good, but I think I am turning into my father who had chicken legs. Especially the lower legs.

Parsnip Totin Jack ★ Posted January 12, 2021 Share #21 Posted January 12, 2021 Pretty good. A former bodybuilder told me he quit the sport when he couldn’t develop his calves anymore. He was jealous of mine. I’ve also been told that in the zombie apocalypse someone claimed dibs on my calves.
Razors Edge ★ Posted January 12, 2021 Share #22 Posted January 12, 2021 Pale, pasty, and hairy. At the best of times, in top form (for me), they look the same as now. I'm just lean with no obvious muscle mass
donkpow Posted January 12, 2021 Share #23 Posted January 12, 2021 I was talking to a fellow who was about to retire from work and he was considering cycling. He also had some friends who were recreational cyclists. I was explaining to him about the benefits of aerobic exercise and the consequential lack of muscle mass. He just couldn't understand how I could ride a bike exclusively for transportation and not have giant sized thighs.
Zephyr Posted January 12, 2021 Share #24 Posted January 12, 2021 Big tree trunks. My whole life, big thighs and big calfs, small ass, skinny ankles. Just genetics I guess because it was long before I started cycling. For normal cut pants I usually need a size larger on the waist to have them fit my thighs. Belts are my friend
Reverend_Maynard Posted January 12, 2021 Share #25 Posted January 12, 2021 Mine look pretty good, if I do say so myself. I'm probably in the best shape I've ever been in and my legs look well proportioned, strong and toned, IMO.
MickinMD ★ Posted January 12, 2021 Share #26 Posted January 12, 2021 My legs have always been the better part of my physique and are still ok. I wish the rest was in as good shape and appearance.

12string Posted January 12, 2021 Share #28 Posted January 12, 2021 I look at chickens and think "maybe if I do a couple more sets of squats...." To give you an idea, the first night I played with a new hockey team, dressing for the game, one of the guys asked "you're not gonna skate on those, are you?"
