Popular Post groupw Posted January 20, 2021 Popular Post Share #1 Posted January 20, 2021 Moved the old TV and AV receiver into the basement. My old JVC amp was just not working that well anymore. A Carver receiver I got in a horse trade would drop out intermittently on one channel. I had read that was common for the amplifier portion as they age. Got the surround sound, TV, DVD and Roku all working fine. Downside is the Onkyo receiver doesn’t have a phono pre-amp, nor a tape loop for my CD recorder. My budget doesn’t have a pre-amp in it at the moment. But this is also the time of year to just sit in the basement listening to LPs. What to do. I suddenly remembered the Carver had an RCA jumper from pre-amp to amp. I connected the pre-amp out to the Aux input on the Onkyo. Hooked up the turntable to the Carver and it all worked! It also sounds better than any setup I have had in the basement in a long time! Now to set up the CD recorder so I can transfer some of the LPs to my digital collection.... 4
