petitepedal ★ Posted January 22, 2021 Share #1 Posted January 22, 2021 So...my TV cart is 26 inches wide... I have $90 in best buy credit..must be spent by Feb 27. I could get 2 or 3 $25 gift cards... and for a few additional $$$ get a 40 inch tv..... Gotta check where the feet of the TV sit width wise... Do I get this? Randomguy Posted January 22, 2021 Share #4 Posted January 22, 2021 Bigger is better in regards to televisions, so get the biggest that will fit. Or get a bigger stand, and then get a bigger tv.
12string Posted January 22, 2021 Share #5 Posted January 22, 2021 I would much rather debate things like "alternate pathways to MidEast Peace", or "Who dives more, Christiano Rinaldo or Sidney Crosby". A debate about 40 inch TVs, I mean, everybody likes 'em, how can you debate about them?
Further Posted January 22, 2021 Share #6 Posted January 22, 2021 Generally speaking modern flat screens sit on a foot that is in the middle of the screen, you do not need a wide stand.
smudge ★ Posted January 22, 2021 Share #7 Posted January 22, 2021 Get a piece of cardboard. 40" on diagonal. Does that look like a tv size that would be good for the size of your room? Go from there. Personally, I think a 40 would be a nice size for your room.
Airehead Posted January 22, 2021 Share #8 Posted January 22, 2021 Can you really buy gift cards with promotional credit? I thought you could not. Buy the tv
groupw Posted January 22, 2021 Share #9 Posted January 22, 2021 Buy the TV. Check the width of the feet more than the screen size. More are going away from the mono stand to a couple smaller legs. Our 65” we bought is a little large for our current tv stand. I want to Menards and bought some prefinished shelving that was just wide enough and set it on top of our stand. It looks ok and will work until we find what we really want there.
jdc2000 Posted January 22, 2021 Share #10 Posted January 22, 2021 Most TVs do not have center stands these days, and 26 inches will probably not be wide enough. There are options however: 1. A 4 foot wooden shelf to sit on top of the stand. This is the inexpensive option. 2. A separate center stand: https://www.amazon.com/Rfiver-Universal-Adjustment-400x400mm-UT2002/dp/B06WLKBZJV/ref=asc_df_B06WLKBZJV/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=198081480945&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=2734385629651517376&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9029412&hvtargid=pla-351267100548&psc=1
Tizeye Posted January 22, 2021 Share #11 Posted January 22, 2021 This is a 48" on a 28" stand. I did build the riser to put the DVD and Apple TV module under, then re-built it, raising it when adding the soundbar which would have blocked the DVD/Apple TV area.
Thaddeus Kosciuszko Posted January 23, 2021 Share #12 Posted January 23, 2021 Ditch the cart and look for a TV mount that attaches to the ceiling, and folds the TV up out of the way when you're not watching it.

THIS..if possible. In my case, there is no wall space. Don't know about ceiling as then issue of wiring...both power and cable/antenna. That opposite wall is the closet and master bath. If I did rearrange the bed where the opposite wall was the sliding glass door, then possibly the left corner where a dresser currently is. The biggest thing with the 28" cart is the new trend for TV's to have two sets of legs and making sure not equal to or more than 28" apart to fit on the cart. No problem with a center pedestal leg.
