kingtermite Posted August 16, 2014 Share #4 Posted August 16, 2014 Mad scientist? He's seen my lab. This is not good. He knows too much. Time to take care of that whole "knowing too much" problem.

Zealot Posted August 16, 2014 Share #7 Posted August 16, 2014 That's one heck of a fireball! If nothing else, he singed some hair and sustained a few bruises from the throw back. Wonder what he was trying to do?

Wonder what he was trying to do? Did something similar when I was about 12 (only with electricity instead of fire). I lost both of my eyebrows. UglyBob Posted August 16, 2014 Share #9 Posted August 16, 2014 I was raised in a welding shop, so I had acetylene and other stuff like that to play with. This is sooooo me... B)
KrAzY Posted August 16, 2014 Author Share #10 Posted August 16, 2014 I have done silly things when I had welding jobs at the old shop I used to work at when in high school... I used to weld stupid things when I had nothing else to do.. I learnt the different ways to arc, TIG and MIG by teaching myself.
UglyBob Posted August 16, 2014 Share #11 Posted August 16, 2014 My brother and I built a beer can mortar powered by the oxy/acetylene tourch. We could accurately drop a beer can full of water (10oz worked best) in a 15 foot circle at about 300 feet. We used to shoot at the cows coming back down the hill in the evening.
Chopped Liver Posted August 16, 2014 Share #12 Posted August 16, 2014 Did something similar when I was about 12 (only with electricity instead of fire). I lost both of my eyebrows. Did you know a trash bag filled with hydrogen and chlorine gases will explode when exposed to sunlight? I didn't either till I did it.....

Parr8hed Posted August 17, 2014 Share #15 Posted August 17, 2014 How did you obtain chlorine gas? Eat a chlorine tablet and have someone pull your finger.

Zealot Posted August 17, 2014 Share #17 Posted August 17, 2014 Eat a chlorine tablet and have someone pull your finger. And you'll stand back there and catch it?
Parr8hed Posted August 17, 2014 Share #18 Posted August 17, 2014 I singed my eyebrows lighting a gas grill one time. The gas was on with the lid down for a little too long before I hit the ignite button. Oops.

Zealot Posted August 17, 2014 Share #20 Posted August 17, 2014 Um, no. Then it isn't a viable option for obtaining chlorine gas, hmmm? Besides, it would more likely contain a but if methane, which might ruin his experiment.... ;-)

Zealot Posted August 17, 2014 Share #22 Posted August 17, 2014 You never said anything about "viable"! It was implied. Since most likely few (if any) would want to 'collect' chlorine gas in that manner, and you'd not likely get pure chlorine gas anyway, it could be ascertained that your proposal was vaporous at best... ;-)
kingtermite Posted August 17, 2014 Share #23 Posted August 17, 2014 Did something similar when I was about 12 (only with electricity instead of fire). I lost both of my eyebrows. Explosions weren't something I played with as a kid. Electricity isn't fun to learn about if it isn't "first hand". The best part was when it blew the fuse, my father ran into my bedroom (where I was at the time) to replace the fuse because the fuse box was in my room. He got the lights back on and asked me what happened. I said, "I don't know" as he looked at me with singed off eyebrows and smoke coming from my head. That answer didn't fly for some reason. Pokey Posted August 17, 2014 Share #24 Posted August 17, 2014 Estes rocket engines, pipes, idiot friends (myself included) and the idea of a rocket gun. Snow banks came in handy that day. We're lucky to have survived those years.
