Cloris Leachman R.I.P.

Recommended Posts

Damn but we're getting old

I remember my mother and her friends talking about celebrity's that had died, I was 10 and thought they were old and wore out, my mom and her friends thought they were dieing  too young.

Different perspective now...

She was 94.  She had a good long run.  All the ladies from the MTM show are now gone, except for Betty White.

Wow, that is weird!  When did MTM die? Brb!  Hmm, her and Valerie Harper both died at 80, in 2017 and 2019. Rose Marie also died fairly recently, in 2017, but unlike them, she was ancient. She was 94, same as Cloris.

A good run indeed.  But Betty White, running for 100...11 months to go!

They should at least let her guest host jeopardy since Alex thought she was the one for the job!  Time is a wasting!

I don’t remember her from lassie atoll.

Apparently only part of a season then replaced by June Lockhart. Reading her 'early career' on Wikipedia, surprised she wasn't labeled as unreliable within the industry and avoided. While initially a backup/replacement, the two Broadway bound productions, leaving before hit Broadway. The in Shakespeare's As You Like It, but left on opening night and signs had to be posted at the box office correcting the billing. Leaving Lassie was also by her decision as she "she didn't see the role as challenging when realized all she would be doing is baking cookies" and wanted out. Despite all that went on with a phenominal career.

EDIT NOTE: The link is to Lassie, but got an error message when posting the YouTube does mot allow embedding of the link...so simply posted as a link.

Her Mel Brooks parts were meaty.

If I was going to name the 10 greatest actors I've ever seen, Cloris Leachman would be high on the list. She could, and did, play vitually every kind of female role.  RIP, Cloris.

Also, the ladies of Golden Girls are now all gone, except for Betty White.

The ladies of Hot in Cleveland need to beware.   :(

I remember seeing her in a couple dramatic parts. One, it took me most of the movie to realize it was her because even though she looked familiar, the part was so different for her from what I was used to.
