Square Wheels Posted August 18, 2014 Share #5 Posted August 18, 2014 I don't know what this is about, but facts never get in the way of me having an opinion. So the deal is I either give a worthy cause money, or I dump water on my head? That's just plain stupid. So Bill, one of the wealthiest people on the planet, made a silly rig to dump a bucket of water on his head, the rig probably cost several hundred dollars to build, and he donated nothing? He is just an example, I know he gives away billions, but I don't. SO I either dump water on my head (stupid) or give money to a good cause (smart). What is the point of this? Kzoo Posted August 18, 2014 Share #9 Posted August 18, 2014 That adds up. See, you don't get it. It's not an addition thing. It's a multiplication thing.
Square Wheels Posted August 18, 2014 Share #10 Posted August 18, 2014 See, you don't get it. It's not an addition thing. It's a multiplication thing. Addition is math. I'm a simpleton, you need to spell things out for me. Regardless of your argument, my factless argument is this is still stupid.
TrentonMakes Posted August 18, 2014 Share #11 Posted August 18, 2014 Addition is math. And multiplication is just repeated addition. My understanding was if you're nominated you're supposed to donate $25 if you take the challenge, and $100 if you don't.

Ahh, that makes some sense, except it feels like extortion or a chain letter.
Former member Posted August 18, 2014 Author Share #13 Posted August 18, 2014 What is the point of this? The whole idea is to raise awareness + money. The video raises awareness, and you also are supposed to make a donation. What don't you understand?
Solution TrentonMakes Posted August 18, 2014 Solution Share #14 Posted August 18, 2014 I think it's an incredibly clever way to use social media to promote a cause - peoples' own narcissism is keeping this thing going. Gonna see a lot more things like this. That would be good because maybe we'll see less of "take this quiz to find out what _______________ you are".
