Mr. Silly Posted August 20, 2014 Share #2 Posted August 20, 2014 I've bought two houses in my life. Both times I had to buy a cold water-heater within a month.
Chopped Liver Posted August 20, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted August 20, 2014 I expect to be replacing the Hot Water heater within a year as well. Going to get the attic foam insulated in a month or less.....need to get some framing work done up there first, then get it foamed. Couple that with going from a 10 SEER unit to a 14 SEER unit, and the electric bills should drop quite a bit. I'd really love to put solar panels up on the roof too, but I don't think I'll be here long enough to recoop those costs...probably 5 or 6 years is all I'll be here. kingtermite Posted August 20, 2014 Share #5 Posted August 20, 2014 3K is not too bad for an A/C, is it?
Chopped Liver Posted August 20, 2014 Author Share #6 Posted August 20, 2014 Isn't this a short-term house? Aren't you moving to Costa Rica or somesuch? Been trying to convince the wife to retire in CR....but given the current health issues, I don't think that is in the cards.
Chopped Liver Posted August 20, 2014 Author Share #7 Posted August 20, 2014 3K is not too bad for an A/C, is it? 1 of 2 units.....and 3k is about normal for a 2 ton unit.

jsharr ★ Posted August 20, 2014 Share #9 Posted August 20, 2014 I think that "Cool!" would have been a better title for this thread. Also, no type of warranty period on this house?

OK..I know people have talked about new units for entire system being 5K or more. I wasn't sure if that was the same or this was only 1/2 of the thing or something. AirwickWithCheese Posted August 20, 2014 Share #14 Posted August 20, 2014 I have decided I will foot the bill for your ac just because I can. I enjoy paying for things for other rich people. Great satisfaction knowing we paid it forward while ignoring the little people.

I'm good with that, let's do it right. I mean I could save the extra 3,000 and donate to P8 but that's exactly what I'm talking about! The satisfaction of knowing you are living in a perfectly cool 66 degree house makes it all worthwhile.
