Chopped Liver Posted August 20, 2014 Share #1 Posted August 20, 2014 People asking for two contradictory things in one query! They want a specific count we use that is based on the unique customer accont# and the CSR_id each day as an estimate of the interactions....but they want the result set to include the adjustment codes.....umm....no can do senior. That would mess up the count. Go to love it.
kingtermite Posted August 20, 2014 Share #2 Posted August 20, 2014 I've seen similar things in programming. People writing logic statements that effectively make the conditional ALWAYS true or ALWAYS false. Simplifying for example, something like: If ( (A < 5) and (A > 6) ) do something. Um.....do you want to explain how something can be less than 5 and greater than 6 at the same time?
Nate Posted August 20, 2014 Share #3 Posted August 20, 2014 can you group by the adjustment codes and give them a count broken out by the adjustment codes?

Chopped Liver Posted August 20, 2014 Author Share #5 Posted August 20, 2014 can you group by the adjustment codes and give them a count broken out by the adjustment codes? I could, easily, but then, that's not what they asked for.

Chopped Liver Posted August 20, 2014 Author Share #10 Posted August 20, 2014 Le sigh..... Explained the issue to him. He comes back with another requiest for the information that once again messes up the counts. I don't think he has a clue.

JerrySTL ★ Posted August 20, 2014 Share #13 Posted August 20, 2014 I bet I could do it with either a sub-query or union all.
UglyBob Posted August 20, 2014 Share #14 Posted August 20, 2014 I bet I could do it with either a sub-query or union all. Unless it's a non-union shop, this request would have to go through the union rep...
