Mr. Silly Posted August 21, 2014 Share #1 Posted August 21, 2014 Are night vision goggles worth the price if all you want them for is to just play around with them every once in a while?
Chopped Liver Posted August 21, 2014 Share #2 Posted August 21, 2014 They aren't all the same, but none of them are really all that great for being a peeping Tom on your neighbors. The images are sort of grainy.
Mr. Silly Posted August 21, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted August 21, 2014 I wasn't thinking of using them for peeping tommy type stuff. Sometime when I take my dog out for a late night pee break, she hears stuff and I'm curious what animal it might be.

tybeegb Posted August 21, 2014 Share #6 Posted August 21, 2014 It depends on the type. Don't know anything about the 'peeping tom' type, but the type we used to fly with would be nice to have, except for the price. Plus they were high maintenance and had to be tuned just right to work well. We landed one night in Jalalabad. Dark. Really dark. I got out to guide the forklifts in to offload/onload. In between I would look under my NVGs and it was pitch black. With the goggles you could see a LOT of people and vehicle activity all around the ramp with their NVG compatible lights. Zealot Posted August 21, 2014 Share #7 Posted August 21, 2014 If you've got the money to spend on them, then sure.
JerrySTL ★ Posted August 22, 2014 Share #8 Posted August 22, 2014 I have a very cheap pair. They are good for about 25 feet. It's amazing what you can see with them at night especially in woods.
