petitepedal ★ Posted August 23, 2014 Share #2 Posted August 23, 2014 They don't allow dogs here...but if they did I think I would get one when I retired and was able to take it out during the day...it is so unfair to have a dog and not be with it all day...or at least part of the day....Cats...as long as you feed them they don't care

Ralphie ★ Posted August 23, 2014 Author Share #4 Posted August 23, 2014 They care, but they aren't all needy and insecure like dogs are. Dogs are lovable with their neuroses, sort of like Barney Fife.
Destination Posted August 23, 2014 Share #5 Posted August 23, 2014 I'm dog-free and that's not about to change any time soon. A dog would require more time and attention than I am able to provide.
team scooter Posted August 23, 2014 Share #6 Posted August 23, 2014 But then again it is also nice not having one too. I've pretty much come to the realization that we're always going to have at least one dog. The joy from having them around is worth the inconvenience. And I plan trips and such to include them too. I already get scolded from Nena for temporarily breaking up the pack, when I get home from work.
Pokey Posted August 23, 2014 Share #7 Posted August 23, 2014 But then again it is also nice not having one too. Yeah...I feel the same way. Miss not haveing a doggie in my life, but no time to really properly care for one either. It just wouldn't be fair to doggie.
Ralphie ★ Posted August 23, 2014 Author Share #8 Posted August 23, 2014 Yeah...I feel the same way. Miss not haveing a doggie in my life, but no time to really properly care for one either. It just wouldn't be fair to doggie. We have the time to take care of one, and Mrs. Ralph is home all day, but it is nice to be able to leave home without having to worry aboot arranging a dog-sitter. Solution SuzieQ Posted August 23, 2014 Solution Share #9 Posted August 23, 2014 I cannot imagine not having a dog in my life. I will always have at least one dog, they keep me sane
Ralphie ★ Posted August 23, 2014 Author Share #10 Posted August 23, 2014 Hmmm - that very well may be the problem wit' both of us lately.
Kirby Posted August 24, 2014 Share #11 Posted August 24, 2014 They care, but they aren't all needy and insecure like dogs are. When I was at my prior job that had really long hours, I got an older rescue cat from a shelter. A kitten would need more attention, but an older cat would be happier to sleep a lot of the day, plus I saved a cat that wasn't otherwise likely to get adopted.
