For those wondering... it was supported on Jack stands just forward of the axle. One side of the Jeep on its own weight. I had to cut the shackle bolts out with a sawzall. The long bolts that bolt the shackle to the jeep body I got out. I was much more careful with the bolts that bolted the shackles to the body. The nuts were welded into the frame.
