team scooter Posted March 28, 2021 Share #7 Posted March 28, 2021 Surprisingly Mrs and I got our first Moderna shots yesterday. I went to the health center for some blood work and they asked if we wanted to get the shots, as they had a few extra doses at the nearby hospital. We told them we'd head right over. Afterwards had no ill effects, but today our arms are really sore near the injections. 1
Kirby Posted March 28, 2021 Share #8 Posted March 28, 2021 At our local NYS vaccination site (one of the big ones, but not a real mega site), the National Guard was checking appointments to let you in the building and doing some initial screening questions (and helping people who needed wheel chairs), but medical personnel from a local hospital were doing the injections. Each nurse also had an assistant who made the second appointments, entered info into the database and wrote out the card. County EMS staff monitored the waiting area and volunteers helped route people to the right locations. It's really quite an impressive set up
Airehead Posted March 28, 2021 Share #9 Posted March 28, 2021 Glad you got the vaccine. I had the same positive experience as Kirby.

Road Runner Posted March 28, 2021 Share #11 Posted March 28, 2021 I've heard the second dose is more likely to cause a significant reaction. My neighbor said his in-laws suffered quite a bit after the second shot. Lots of others seem mostly unaffected.

Depends. I think in general more people have fewer reactions to the Pfizer than Moderna second shot. I barely had any arm pain with my 2nd Pfizer shot.

Mrs. TK and I got our second doses today. Mrs. TK went first so when it was my turn I was ready. Nurse: Did you have any reaction from the first shot? TK: (deadpan) Well, my arm fell off but I stapled it back on. (Mrs. TK - ) Nurse: Well, some people report a greater reaction to the second dose. TK: That's ok, if my arm falls off again I got bigger staples this time.

I felt fine last night other than a sore arm and feeling overwhelmingly tired. Today I have felt like two trucks competed to see who could run over me the most times, and there were people on standby who threw me down multiple sets of concrete parking garage stairs littered with broken glass. If this is a super-mild version of what covid feels like, I don't want any part of it and I am damn glad I got my second shot. It was Moderna, btw.
