The other raven was on the ground. He kept trying to pull — I had those little mini-melons you have in the mesh baggies — he kept trying to grab the netting and pull my melons off the cart.” A raven started to fly in a circle around Josey until she got them to scram. “He was waiting for another opportunity to grab the melons off the cart, but they never were deterred,” she said. “They just stayed posted, waiting for their next opportunity to steal something out of my cart.” “They are very dedicated to their mission,” she added. I saw a bald eagle sitting in a tree surrounded by ravens. The eagle looked annoyed the ways eagles do.

Kzoo Posted March 30, 2021 Share #7 Posted March 30, 2021 Why did the people assume the ravens were male. "He swooped in..." "He stole...." "He was sitting there....." Sounds like a bunch of female ravens to me. And as a Steeler fan I know never to trust a raven - never.
sheep_herder ★ Posted March 30, 2021 Share #8 Posted March 30, 2021 I saw several ravens working the parking lot near Old Faithful a few years ago. Also Clark's Nutcrackers can be a pest in campgrounds.
Razors Edge ★ Posted March 30, 2021 Share #9 Posted March 30, 2021 Looking at the conditions of that parking lot, I'd say it is why you avoid Alaska in March!
ChrisL Posted March 30, 2021 Share #10 Posted March 30, 2021 Seagulls are notorious for stealing food when people go into the water. Any unattended cooler or bag is fair game. When I was a kid we’d make a little hole in the sand, put our lunch in it, cover it with a towel and then go surf. I taught my kids that trick as well. Kept them from going hungry during beach days at summer camp.

Yes they are an annoyance but the lack of them is concerning too.
