Former member Posted August 31, 2014 Share #56 Posted August 31, 2014 So what is the point of this thing?it makes coffee the right way, and keeps it hot without burning it(or using electricity).
Randomguy Posted August 31, 2014 Share #57 Posted August 31, 2014 it makes coffee the right way, and keeps it hot without burning it(or using electricity). Coffee just shouldn't be made. But either way, if you have a press, doesn't the raw material just hang out in the fluid bath? Tea gets all astringent and nasty if you don't take the leaves out right the fuck away. Ralphie ★ Posted August 31, 2014 Share #58 Posted August 31, 2014 it makes coffee the right way, and keeps it hot without burning it(or using electricity). I am sold! I need to find a more reasonably priced one though. Keurig fills the bill for no reheating woes, but the coffee is 'spensive, has wasteful packaging, and sort of sucks. But you could answer the question in regards to coffee to save wear and tear on my google. This one looks promising. http://www.bonton.com/shop/home/kitchen/coffee-tea/french-press-coffeemakers/bodum-columbia-double-wall-4-cup-french-press-coffeemaker_548114.html?CID=GOOG-PLA-AS&kwid=productads-plaid^76182608059-sku^0727015055640@ADL4BONTON-adType^PLA-device^c-adid^47538128299

Whenever I see brain damaged people drinking tea that the leaves have just been left in, rage builds and I want to dismember or flay those people. Does the same thing happen with coffee, that you just want to brew it a brief moment in time and then not anymore?

Randomguy Posted August 31, 2014 Share #63 Posted August 31, 2014 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_press Ok, so it is similar with the brewing time. In this case, wth would you have a press for more than a cup? Seems pretty stupid to do so.

Seems pretty stupid to do so. Seems like you'd have to empty out the grounds, which seems possibly inconvenient.

Aboot perfect for my normal two cups on a normal weekend morning. The weak part to me looks like maybe it is only minimally insulated.

The weak part to me looks like maybe it is only minimally insulated. That's fine...just wanted to make sure you noticed the size. It was cheaper because it was much smaller. LOL....minimally insulated? Insulation is the whole selling feature and why it's more expensive. It's DOUBLE WALL which means it's got MORE insulation to keep the coffee hot. Personally, I wouldn't leave coffee in there, but if you do, it stays hotter. It's also important because a lot of heat is lost during that ~4 minutes of brew time. Kirby Posted August 31, 2014 Share #68 Posted August 31, 2014 Roadrunner, have you ever tried Teabeans? They're coffee beans that are baked rather than being roasted. Someone gave some to me, but they were still too much like coffee for me. If you like coffee, but find the regular coffee too harsh, this might work for you.
