Destination Posted August 31, 2014 Share #4 Posted August 31, 2014 Coke is not responsible for America's obesity problem. Dumbass people who eat and drink too much crap are responsible for their own choices. Next time you're in the grocery store, stroll through the aisles and look at the choices available. Look at the space dedicated to soft drinks, chips and other junk foods. And look at the space dedicated to foods like frozen pizzas, sugar-laden breakfast cereals and other foods which are extremely convenient, but not all that good as nutritional choices. And compare the prices of these with the prices of healthier food products. Yes, the choices exist, but the the personal responsibility argument is an oversimplification.

The fricken' man is getting rich off our obesity! (I am sirious aboot that, not sarcastic) I am pretty sure in my case that 3 hours a day spent commuting in a car plus my sedentary job and aging are a perfect storm for getting fatter. Lot's of healthy choices exist....hell, if you just shop the outer aisle of the grocery store, that's where the good stuff is. Fruits, vegetables, and meats. It's those inner aisles where all the HFCS, sugar, and trans-fat laden shit is.
team scooter Posted August 31, 2014 Share #8 Posted August 31, 2014 Have I mentioned the lady my wife used to work with that only drank Coke? No water or any other fluids, just Coke. She started noticing spots on her legs shortly before her kidneys totally failed.
Destination Posted August 31, 2014 Share #9 Posted August 31, 2014 One guy I knew drank two litres of Coke every day when he was in his teens. At 17, he had kidney stones. Once the kidney stones were gone, he went back to his Coke-drinking ways.

Dirtyhip Posted August 31, 2014 Share #13 Posted August 31, 2014 I love Reeds Ginger Brew. Even still, it's empty wasted calories. Tasty, but nothing. Carbonation isn't good for us either. I try to treat soda as a dessert.

Randomguy Posted August 31, 2014 Share #16 Posted August 31, 2014 I drink mostly ginger ale if I'm having a carbonated soft drink. Do gingers have to drink ginger ale? Is it composed of gingers, liquified, or something else?

Ralphie ★ Posted August 31, 2014 Share #23 Posted August 31, 2014 I gave up soda last spring. I miss it. I try not to deal in absolutes when possible, so I traded it for water the vast amount of the time, but I still drink a Diet Coke or Pepsi when I feel like it, which is not very often now that I am used to water.
