The magnolia we have around here is an early bloomer, it is magnificent when the bloom goes well, but it often doesn't.

This year they started way too early and then the cold got them  :(

That should be every weekend for Allen. He also needs a hound dog namedBelvedere so he can rock, take a sip of mint julep and then yell loudly “Belvedere come here boy!”  “Come Here I say!”

Cane rocking chair, yes. Mint in my tea, which is really only a shot of bourbon away from a julep, yes. The dog is not named Belvedere, but my friend visiting’s middle name is, Beauregard.

Wow.  I got a memory of that beautiful fragrance from here so strong it feels like it's still in my nose now!

We had a magnolia tree in the yard and I remember those flowers.  They would turn into a seed pod that made a great simulated hand grenade!  I also remember the tree would shed leaves all summer and it was a pita to rake them up all the time.

I was not sad when we took that tree down.
