I just did the Garmin compare between the 530, 830, and 1030, and the ONLY difference was the 830 is a touchscreen AND the 1030/830 has "on device course creator", 530 does not. Recalling my struggle to activate my iPhone's touchscreen with sweaty/sunscreen/wet fingers, I'd say that is not worth $100 extra. Had a 705 before that. One thing that the *30 all have is the ability to work with a special mount which contains a battery.
