Whatever it costs to get free from the impasses that all relationships occasionally experience, it is much cheaper in terms of money, health, and spirit to pay upfront rather than after the final breakdown. Getting help when you need it might be the biggest bargain of your life.

Of course this means if you choose to be proactive, you're gonna have to come up with another excuse for why you are a drunkard.

Did not read the article, but first thing to enter my mind was that is probably cheaper than hiring a lawyer.

By this argument, transferring ownership of your mortgage-free house and your kid's college fund would be a reasonable fee.

It also implies that the marriage counselor is the only way to save the marriage.

What a load of self-serving crap!

By that very same argument, you could say everything is a load of self-serving crap. Hmmmm... you might be onto something...!
