Popular Post MickinMD ★ Posted June 29, 2021 Popular Post Share #1 Posted June 29, 2021 I have to check out of the hotel Thurs AM but hope to be out tomorrow. The jungle of vegetation in the back yard I didn't cut down because of the 100+° heat index has been cut down by the contractor'a crew! A crew is digging up the yard to lay the new up-to-code water pipe I paid $3000 for, so I should have water by tomorrow. The refrigerator is plugged in from an extension until all the house wiring is completed so I can begin moving food into it this afternoon. I got the queen bed on a 4th of July sale, $200 off plus a $50 coupon I got on the Internet. Everything, including the "free" electronic adjustable base that raises or lowers your head, expensive pillows (below), and delivery tomorrow came to $1369.29 - very close to what I had budgeted, but nicer stuff than I expected to get. The "Mattress Firm" store had me try out lying in a lot of positions on several beds and then zoned in on what mattresses I might like. The mattress I picked is a "firm" that feels like it's between a medium and a firm - just right for me. They also had 6 types of expensive pillows and I selected the one I liked best out of those. They had great but expensive pillows, $99, with a buy one get one free sale, and my sister said they're worth it, so I tried out all they had and picked two of this type, the support my head fine for side-sleeping but don't feel stiff:

No - take them off before running any water. The plumber should have done that.

How about "Be sure to flush the toilets"???? That's always wise after contractors have been living there for months. Heck, I wonder if insurance covers a good cleaning inside the house??? I think you can post online with those, you just have to keep inserting quarters.

While I was in Chicago two months ago, I bought a (very gently) used top-end Panasonic 60" plasma, because I'm an old-school geek who loves the colors (they are no longer made). Paired with a 5.2 Dolby sound bar, I must say, it's pretty amazing.
Square Wheels Posted July 4, 2021 Share #18 Posted July 4, 2021 Funny how things change. We grew up with 1 19" TV, dad controlled what we watched, and we were happy with that. Plus, there were only three channels, unless you watched UHF. Now, like most, we have three TVs, a million channels, and never watch TV, except for Top Chef one week a year, and TdF 2 weeks a year, and of course the Bruins and Pats. No daily TV, only Netflix.
