MoseySusan Posted June 30, 2021 Share #1 Posted June 30, 2021 Sprinted past the speed sign. But then it started raining and my legs got a little crappy. Still, a fun ride. Time for coffee. https://www.relive.cc/view/vRO7nEgPMKv 1

There are several 25mph zones near my house that could easily produce speeds in excess of that due to a slight downhill grade in a residential neighborhood.
Mr. Beanz Posted October 21, 2021 Share #3 Posted October 21, 2021 But was that 20 on a flat, descent, or ascent?

Some context: for the last seven years, commuting 14 miles is about the only riding I’d done. And about three out of five days, never when it was raining or snow on the ground. I stopped road riding. I retired at the end of May, and was progressively adding miles and speed to my riding. Then I broke my hand in late August, and I’ve been off the bike. 1

Uphill, downhill, either way I’m glad you are back on your bike!

Of course it's great to be on the bike but funny when you see people post that they did 20+ when they are on downhills. Duh, I hit like 30 sometimes on downhills without pedaling. So I was just making sure you were legit before I give praise! Good job!

There is a road that goes above up into the hills. Gina's cousins told us that we should ride up one day. That would be cool but not sure if we'd take our bikes on the road. But hope we get back out there some day. It was nice out there. We've stayed in a couple of hotels there. The Lodge by the vet cemetery, maybe Santa Fe, not sure. Also an Indian themed hotel Nativo. Almost got to stay in the Albuquerque hotel there in town but no vacancies the time we went. Gina's cousin is in management for the company that runs the hotels so we got to stay in the rooms for like $20 for a couple of days. Went to Taos too, the gorge, pretty cool stuff out there. Hope we can go again someday. The Nativo The Lodge I think this is Santa Fe, escapes me at the moment and Gina isn't her to verify. But her great grandmother owned 3 of these units years ago operating a tamale business and restaurant. Now they are the center of an art district. Oh why oh why didn't they leave them to Gina ha ha ha! And strangely enough, the street right next to them is my last name. I guess it was meant to be. Right next to Gina's great grandma's home. I joke with her and tell her that her family were probably servants for my family.

I’ve climbed it many times, and at the top you can choose to keep climbing further into the hills at a much steeper grade or turn south and fly along a gradual downhill. It’s where “the fingers” are, turn East off that long downhill and take a few short climbs.

We were there in May so my clothing consisted of all shorts and t shirts thinking it would be a hot desert climate. It's 100 in May out here. We got to The Lodge where we were staying and it was snowing and freezing cold. Had to hit up Wally World for a sweater and pants.

It’s a desert, but it’s also a mile high in elevation. Santa Fe is 7k. We rarely get 100 degree days.
