All the nurses and hospital staff are chunk-style

Unfortunately, sleep deprivation, long shifts and vending machine food washed down with Coca-Cola does not help their waist.  When I had eye surgery, I gave the nurses a 5 lb box of chocolates.  It was gone before the next shift.  :)

It must be stressful dealing with sick people all the time.   Stress eating adds up.

I suppose chocolates are better than airline liquor bottles.

Why body shaming?  Why body shaming a profession?  I don't get it.

It's like he has never been to a modern office building.  Or a movie or mall or restaurant or grocery store or pretty much anywhere an "average" person hangs out!  Jeebus, he needs to get out more - or start choosing different search criteria in his porn habits.  Plenty of pleasantly plump porn actresses these days.

You’re an enabler. :D

Must be the big city nurses. I’ve always had pretty much fit medical staff taking care of me.

Shift work is terrible for body health.  With no discernible sleep patterns and no dietary schedule, sometimes you need to eat a meal at midnight because you had slept all day and your body is telling you it is noon.

I did not realize how bad I felt and unhealthy I was after 18 years of shift work until I got off of it.  I would retire now before I'd go back to that.

On a side note @Randomguy, they are probably right now posting in some obscure nurse forum ranting about why do they have to deal with patients with the body consistency of a squeezable bottle of sour cream.

Nominated

Ha!  Doubtful, as marbles as I am, I am still not at that level yet.

I am cuddlier than a squeezed bottle, though!

She suffers from scoliosis?  look at her shoulders and the slight correcton of the head, indicating her brain attempting to correct.  Ask her and see if I’m correct.  I notice that stuff.

I worked swing shift and made it almost a year before I thrown in the towel. I just couldn't do it anymore.

You never get into any sleeping or eating pattern

That's what I told them...     actually I think It would have been quitting, I was probably too young to retire.

It was bad enough working over night shifts (days in a row) after storms...   working a rotating shift... no way.  I'd be a zombie in less than a month.

When I was in the hospital, I didn't notice...   I just wanted them to know how to do their jobs.

Among the medical professionals I know personally, only a couple are chunky. So it does surprise me the percentage I see in medical facilities who are larger. The ones I talk to who do shift work admit healthy eating is a challenge. Salads are hard to get on the graveyard shift and most times they need food they can quickly snarf down before the next buzzer goes off.
When I was at the home improvement store there were times as a department head that you had to do overnight shifts to reset your area or do inventory prep. It was pretty rough.

I gained weight and stopped working out when I was working odd hours. My work start and end times varied depending on what day it was. One day I would start at 10pm to 7am the next day I would start at 2:30am till noon and two days later I was going into work at a different time and depending on when I walk out the door and came in for my next shift I had 3 months where I was in a factory 7 days a week.

I worked many 10 shifts on 3 hours of sleep and somedays up for 24+ hours

I know that I kinda volunteered for those hours but it was never meant to be for permanent thing and the company tried to make it permanent. I gave them a inch and they tried to take a mile.

I know a few people who work in hospitals that do somewhat the same work hours that I had so I can see where the bad habits come in.
