Popular Post Dirtyhip Posted July 22, 2021 Popular Post Share #1 Posted July 22, 2021 That is what my husband calls it when I make a place a home and put special touches on our space. The last house, I was so over it by the time we finished remodeling. I did create an amazing garden before I let it all die when I focused on that enduro. My husband ended up putting things on the wall in that old house. This time is different. I am excited to put things on the wall and decorate. I plan to head out to the thrift store to find a nice sugar dish. Then on to the Dept. store to buy sheets for our new bed, and of course fresh tea towels for the kitchen. Mine are all stained and need replacement. 3
MoseySusan Posted July 22, 2021 Share #2 Posted July 22, 2021 My thing is finding how much color I can include. I like neutral everything, but mr. wants a little color. So we have a red this and a teal that. Half our kitchen towels are white flour sack material, half are madras print.
BuffJim Posted July 22, 2021 Share #3 Posted July 22, 2021 BuffCarla does a nice job with making our house homey. I’m not real handy, but yesterday we got a new sink and garbage disposal installed in the kitchen. It was a $1200 dollar job when all is said and done, but it is a big improvement. She also redid the guest room recently, and made it very nice when we do have visitors.

My daughters can both do plumbing and electrical repairs. 1
shootingstar Posted July 23, 2021 Share #5 Posted July 23, 2021 One thing I learned about myself is my 2-dimensional art skills don't translate for 3-D interior design skills. (Sculpturing and ceramics weren't my thing in art courses.) I don't have the knack of beautiful cohesive decorated rooms. I have fairly good sewing /tailoring skills but in a different direction which excludes sofa covers, etc. I have never sewn curtains but probably could..and now never needed to sew curtains because places have blinds. I have a problem of too much of my own artwork (paintings) and framed artwork from artists bought over the decades.

petitepedal ★ Posted July 23, 2021 Share #7 Posted July 23, 2021 I have a friend who is a water color artist..a few years ago she had a hemorrhagic stroke...once she recovered..she had a huge art sale..she runs in streaks with her subjects..landscape, butterflies, birds, flowers..everything!! One of the things she did was birds nests..as a symbol of home and "nesting"...She put one in the collage she painted for my place of work...I bought a smaller one...and sent it to Suzie Q when she bought her house.. Hmmm..I should see if she has any nest paintings....you could get one too. 1

petitepedal ★ Posted July 23, 2021 Share #10 Posted July 23, 2021 This is a South African scene...kinda why I sent the nest to Suzie..they shared the South African connection. 3
shootingstar Posted July 23, 2021 Share #11 Posted July 23, 2021 You're so lucky to have such a friend with a gift . These just sort of sit cluttered, some not great of my own made stuff. lst 2nd sit on my mantlepiece but I will not give a photo of mantle, because it's cluttered with a pile of paintings also lying down.
