Popular Post Allen ★ Posted July 23, 2021 Popular Post Share #1 Posted July 23, 2021 I’m buying a roller for the new mower. I need a roller. Lawn chess, long range archery targets, cut the lawn like a Zen rock garden. I’m tired of dull stripes, I need a roller. 5

So, too late for the miles to count for this weekend's 1,000 mile challenge??? @Square Wheels, do roller miles count even if on Monday? 1

He is talking about a lawn roller, it’s like a steam roller only pulled by a tractor. He bought a new tractor and want to get some toys to go with it. When the yard is somewhat soft you roll the lumps out of it.

They are hollow, you fill them with water to make them heavy. After a number of years and they start to leak from rust holes you fill them with cement.

Same basic idea, just not quite as heavy. 1

donkpow Posted August 20, 2021 Share #18 Posted August 20, 2021 If you want my opinion, a lawn roller is probably one of the worst tools you can use. Is compaction not a problem where you are? I have no problem using a roller with an aerator. In fact, I do. Aerate, then roll.
Longjohn ★ Posted August 20, 2021 Share #19 Posted August 20, 2021 Compaction slows down the grass’s growth and you don’t have to mow as often.

I love my clover My sunflowers average about 3 bees per head, the clover in the lawn has at least a couple bees per square foot, the other flowers attract a few bees. I have bees every where and we seem to get along just fine, I don't bother them, and they don't bother me. 1
Longjohn ★ Posted August 21, 2021 Share #23 Posted August 21, 2021 We have honey bees again. When 17 Amish families moved to New York they took their bees with them and all we had were wild bees. We had plenty of those, everything still got pollinated. I haven’t seen any hives around but somebody has them. They really work the sunflowers.
