MoseySusan Posted July 26, 2021 Share #1 Posted July 26, 2021 Sushi for dinner, and I tried octopus sashimi. It’s chewy, and the tentacles crack and pop like knuckles. I’m glad I tried it, but I won’t be eating it again. 1 2

Some things just need to be cooked. 1

Good for you.
shootingstar Posted July 27, 2021 Share #5 Posted July 27, 2021 Here I am in Seoul, South Korea. It was chopped and cooked into the Korean savoury pancake. It was delicious. I like octopus lightly grilled. 1

Good for you. I like seafood. I like tuna sashimi. We also had a spicy tuna roll and a green chili salmon roll. 1 hour ago, shootingstar said: like octopus lightly grilled My stomach is having a hard time digesting it. I’m not sure I’d try it again, even cooked.

Zephyr Posted July 27, 2021 Share #9 Posted July 27, 2021 It is chewy if not done right. Octopus needs to be cooked for 3 minutes or 3 hours. Anything in between is tough and chewy. I have some really tasty octo, not tough at all, and some really bad octo. My one attempt at braising it was an epic failure

I consider it just another very slight chewy thing (if cooked right) that's more challenging to prepare than squid. I suppose people here tend to like their squid deep fried. Yes, everyone has to say calamari to cover up the real name. I prefer squid very lightly sauteed..which means it's very fast to prepare. Yes, I've cooked squid at home, but not octopus. 7 hours ago, Zephyr said: It is chewy if not done right. Octopus needs to be cooked for 3 minutes or 3 hours. Anything in between is tough and chewy.
