So, let’s get to rating and marking solutions.

Bumps to all the user badges and points for having the solution in a topic. And rating the topics helps solve for Dr. Mickin’s “quality of content unrelated to points” flaw in the system of badges. 

When you start a topic, you have an affirmative duty to mark a solution. And we, the readers, have a duty to rate the topic. 

This site is awesome! Let’s put its powers into play. 

Who will be marked as solved in this topic?  It could be you.

Rule of thumb (sorry @goldendesign) is that any and all @Razors Edge's replies are good "solution" candidates.

Yes, you are indeed wrong.  I have done it myself, which does mimic real life, where just asking a question can lead to a dialog that can solve it, whether that dialog is inner or outer or a hybrid.

I don’t see a button to mark the solution on topics others have started. So, a person who didn’t start the topic would need special access to mark solution of a topic or comment by the OP.

I meant use your own post in your own thread as a solution.  I thought the solution could not be provided by the original poster.

It  is, really, probably the #1 reason @Square Wheels doesn't grant me powers in this place! I would abuse the hell out of them!
