Welcome to Canada

I live 20+ miles from the border. I get these invading messages all the time.

'Welcome to Canada! Don't worry. Call, text, and browse on your T-Mobile plan at no extra charge. Visit t-mo.co/sgmwb to read info about the data experience for your plan.'

That damn @Rattlecan is behind them all, I know it.

Years ago, I would get those messages near the Mexico border when visiting San Diego.  Didn't see them this time around so either AT&T upped their tower game or Carlos Slim isn't as greedy as he used to be.

Just wait for the international roaming charges on you bill.

I'm in the mid-Atlantic, and haven't been to Canada since Vancouver in 2002 for an Alaska Cruise, so my border messages are from crossing state lines.

Those messages greatly vary in intensity, especially crossing the Mason-Dixon Line.

If you enter Maryland from Pennsylvania, you see an attractive sign telling you to enjoy yourself or "drive gently."

Crossing into Pennsylvania, you get more of rigidly constructed, hardscrabble sign that includes a warning, often followed by another sign with a list of speeding mph fines:

Keep in mind, PA has folks from MD coming into it, so has resorted to strong messaging to get through their thick skulls.  In the other direction, MD is getting genteel and polite PA drivers entering their turf, so there is no need for a tough message.
