Airehead Posted September 18, 2021 Share #2 Posted September 18, 2021 When I was sick last winter, I asked Einstein to make me some. He did. The ratios were not quite right but he tried and that was nice.

ChrisL Posted September 18, 2021 Share #8 Posted September 18, 2021 Never had it. Growing up we ate chocolate sprinkles on toast with butter but not cinnamon.

shootingstar Posted September 18, 2021 Share #16 Posted September 18, 2021 Several decades ago. We're weren't allowed to have much sugar... special occasions only for dessert like stuff. For sure, not allowed for breakfast except for orange marmalade and butter on toast.

I made the mistake of buying a small jar of cinnamon, not cinnamon sugar, and sprinkled it on the butter that had melted on my toast. Not quite right. Thanks for reminding me. I just added cinnamon sugar to my phone's grocery list! I'm sure one of the cheap off-brands will do! Not real healthy but I'm eating low-carb, high-fiber Schmidt's 647 Bread! Do you not keep any sugar in your house, that you could mix with the cinnamon? I like to use enough sugar that it made a crunchy layer with the butter.
Square Wheels Posted September 18, 2021 Share #20 Posted September 18, 2021 I used to use the cinnamon sugar stuff, it's like crack. I think any sugar item is like crack for me. I need to just stay away.
sheep_herder ★ Posted September 18, 2021 Share #21 Posted September 18, 2021 My wife eats 'graveyard stew' when feeling bad or out of sorts. It is made with cinnamon toast in milk. She keeps a jar of premixed cinnamon and sugar, for when it is needed.
Allen ★ Posted September 18, 2021 Share #22 Posted September 18, 2021 Great aunt Josephine’s recipe: Cinnamon and sugar in a bowl mixed to taste. Melt butter in a cast iron skillet. Add sugar/cinnamon mix and let it liquify. Throw the bread in and let it soak up the caramelized sugar. Flip it over and soak up the remainder. Caramelizing the sugar makes it all crunchy on the toast. Serve when it’s still a little too hot to touch and you have to blow on it. Clean the still hot skillet with a paper towel. The sugar wipes right out. Wear an oven mitt when you do, liquid sugar will blister you in a second.

Option two: use the not yet wiped down skillet to fry a slice of ham for a light sugar glaze.
