Kirby Posted September 19, 2021 Share #5 Posted September 19, 2021 I haven't been there since the latest renovations. When I take the train to the city, I go to Grand Central Station instead of Penn.

I guess it was nice in its glory days until they built something over it.

donkpow Posted September 19, 2021 Share #11 Posted September 19, 2021 I don't see how this conclusion can be drawn. It's pure speculation given how many "Union Stations" there are. I mean you can't even visit them all.

maddmaxx ★ Posted September 19, 2021 Share #13 Posted September 19, 2021 Built in 1939, Los Angeles Union Station is the largest railroad passenger terminal in the Western United States and is widely regarded as “the last of the great train stations.” The station's signature Mission Moderne style makes it one of L.A.'s architectural gems.

The Ford Motor Company bought it. They're remodeling it. The ride I do in Detroit goes passed it, that's where I snapped the pic I posted.

Wilbur ★ Posted September 20, 2021 Share #18 Posted September 20, 2021 Milano Central is pretty darn grand! Some say it is opulent. I find it ugly, with the air of fascism. It was built under the control of Mussolinin after all. Pretty amazing though.

Inside more amazing.
AirwickWithCheese Posted September 20, 2021 Author Share #20 Posted September 20, 2021 None of your suggestions beat Greenville. We have a cigarette machine, a soda fountain, and it's located near the Hot Dog King.

Hard to imagine the d'Orsay with trains running into it, but at least the French found a good use for it.

We took a train from Rome to Milan, carried our luggage to the outside, notice a waiting cab, just sitting there. We got in and the cab, and he started to drive to our hotel. That's when the people in the area just went crazy.... As we drove away... THAT is when we noticed the looong line of people waiting for cabs. Those bastard Americas cut in line. We didn't see the line.... all we saw was the waiting cab. We were tired and wanted to get to the hotel. I didn't look for a line... I was looking for a cab and I found one.
