Scrapr ★ Posted October 11, 2021 Share #1 Posted October 11, 2021 not all the time. But I prefer it. Mostly a Classic but if I see a pull through I use it http://www.fancyparking.com/methods.html
donkpow Posted October 11, 2021 Share #2 Posted October 11, 2021 I'm a "Drive Through" man, myself. Always have been.
jsharr ★ Posted October 11, 2021 Share #3 Posted October 11, 2021 I like the drive through method. I was a fancy backer upper parker when I drove a truck. Just easier to get in and out that way.

Ralphie ★ Posted October 11, 2021 Share #6 Posted October 11, 2021 There are a lot of potential hazards to pull through parking. Number one being concrete berms! Two is someone else whipping in from the other direction. I do it cautiously because I think I have hit concrete stops before and also encountered people whipping in from the other direction. Bikeguy Posted October 11, 2021 Share #7 Posted October 11, 2021 I visited a LOT if different customer sites in my car. Many locations required you to back into a parking space. The idea is it's safer than pulling into a parking spot, because when you leave, you can easily see the traffic when you pull out of the parking space. So I got used to packing into parking spaces. So I use the classic method, or the drive thru method. Back in parking should be used all the time. Some places understand this already. http://www.mikeontraffic.com/introduction-back-angle-parking/
Ralphie ★ Posted October 11, 2021 Share #8 Posted October 11, 2021 Back in wit’ traffic can also be rough because no one wants to wait on you while you do dat. signed, Debbie Downer.
Ralphie ★ Posted October 11, 2021 Share #9 Posted October 11, 2021 But back in angle looks like a good way to go! Quick and easy! I like!

I wish they would do that here. It would so much safer. When some HUGE suv or pickup truck is parked to your right, when you leave the parking spot, either I use the brail method, or WoBG is a spotter to see the traffic.
groupw Posted October 11, 2021 Share #11 Posted October 11, 2021 I do both the classic and the drive thru on occassion. I do the classic at a client's lot where parking faces the west unless you back in. Helps keep the interior a little cooler if my car is facing to the east. maddmaxx ★ Posted October 11, 2021 Share #12 Posted October 11, 2021 I hate drive throughs. I've met idiots driving through into a space I was parking in. I've watch numerous accidents with drive throughs leaving their space and being in the blind spot of those driving through the next lane over. They put lines in parking lots for a reason. Consistency and order is proper. 1
Kirby Posted October 11, 2021 Share #13 Posted October 11, 2021 Drive through if possible. Otherwise, just regular I only back in to a spot if I have to.
Longjohn ★ Posted October 12, 2021 Share #14 Posted October 12, 2021 At my eye doctor’s I parallel park on the left side of a one way street. It’s actually easier but seemed strange at first. I can usually park right in front of the eye clinic.
Further Posted October 12, 2021 Share #15 Posted October 12, 2021 I will walk quite a distance to use a drive thru. I hate backing up in a crowded parking lot, my neck doesn't swivel worth a shit anymore, and my eyes take too damn long to focus. I love back up cameras cause I can see if somebody, especially a little kid, showed up behind me. And pulling out, forward or back, from behind a huge truck or SUV, I go slow and hope anyone approaching will see the situation and give me the right of way, or lay on the horn and publicly proclaim their assholeness 1
