25 Reasons Why Your Next Dog Should Be A Greyhound

Recommended Posts

Those don't seem like real reasons to make my next doggy a greyhound.

What are some real reasons?  The ones I have met have been very cool.

Despite the fact that they were race dogs, they are about the "chillest" breed you will ever meet. Generally, they are VERY low maintenance. They don't need a lot of exercise. They just sit around and cuddle with you or sleep most of the time. Despite the fact they are pretty big, they don't take up a lot of space because they love to curl up into a little ball and sleep. They occasionally take up 2/3 of the couch (per dog), but that's a small price to pay.

Greyhounds are great....but be forewarned, if they see a squirrel, you're likely to be left standing while the dog, the leash, and your arm go after said rodent.

That is NOT a given. Many will do that. They are SIGHT HOUNDS, but not all have that drive. My two boys never did. Probably about 50-60% do. The rule (as told to me by the rescue group I got them from) is to never have them off leash unless in a fully fenced area.
