Apparently they taste like dinosaurs.

Scientists found an intact blood vessel inside a fossilized bone of Tyrannosaurus Rex.  It turns out that the modern animal with the closest DNA match is the chicken!

Chickens are thought to have been domesticated around 8,000-10,000 years ago in Southeast Asia and India - apparently in several places because the modern chicken has a combination of the genes of several Asian jungle fowl which don't quite look like chickens.

They reached parts of Europe by 3000 BCE but only reached Western Europe around 1000 BCE.

The Polynesians brought the chicken to the west coast of South America around 1200 AD and the Europeans brought them elsewhere in the Americas in the 1500's and 1600's.

In return, the Europeans, Polynesians, and Asians got potatoes, corn, tobacco, tomatoes, and Pocahontas.
