Square Wheels Posted October 21, 2021 Share #1 Posted October 21, 2021 Do you visit your doc annually? I don't unless I have to. I needed a prescription for PT. My ankle has been hurting, a lot. Never mind running, I can barely walk. While chatting with the docs office, they want me to come in for my annual checkup. I got the prescription; I'll skip the checkup.

Wilbur ★ Posted October 21, 2021 Share #3 Posted October 21, 2021 I get a physical every six months with ECG for aviation. I have one physical per year with my GP. Complete blood work up annually.

Longjohn ★ Posted October 21, 2021 Share #7 Posted October 21, 2021 Driving truck I always had my ICC exams. When I started working at the forge they encouraged us to get a primary care doctor and get an annual exam. I always did but when I got old I started picking up other doctors. I now have an Oncologist, a Dermatologist, a Cardiologist, a Nephrologist, a urologist, two eye doctors, and see other specialists as needed. Getting old isn’t for sissies. I probably average over five doctor appointments a month. I saw my Urologist this morning, going to the Dermatologist tomorrow morning to get another squamous cell carcinoma cut out. Going to try to talk him into taking the stitches out of the last one he cut out. I’m scheduled to get them out next week.

donkpow Posted October 21, 2021 Share #9 Posted October 21, 2021 Maybe it's just an imaginary injury and it doesn't really hurt.

dinneR ★ Posted October 21, 2021 Share #11 Posted October 21, 2021 I had not gone in a few years, but went this year for a full physical. It was great. The doctor was awesome. I might go every year just for kicks.
Longjohn ★ Posted October 21, 2021 Share #12 Posted October 21, 2021 I had an awesome primary care doctor. She is the cousin of one of my friends that lives in Florida. She would fly down to Florida to run marathons with her cousin. When the pandemic hit I had one virtual visit with her and then she took a sabbatical and hasn’t come back. My new doctor is also very nice but she isn’t an athlete.

Further Posted October 22, 2021 Share #17 Posted October 22, 2021 Went yearly for a long time, till he developed a little too much interest in my prostrate. So, I skipped a few years... Now I have a new guy I see every 6 months. He had me do a poop in the box and declared my prostrate fine. He did not like my cholesterol or blood pressure, so now I take a handful of pills everyday, but my numbers are all good.
shootingstar Posted October 22, 2021 Share #18 Posted October 22, 2021 I probably will get my physical next yr. By then it's been 2 yrs. Usually thereafter I go for blood, urine lab tests. I did see doctor just 2 months ago to have my ear cleaned out...wax was pressing against ear drum. One ear is different than other in terms of ear canal. I noticed some of my leg veins are slightly more visible ....and believe me, I haven't done much hardcore exercise this year for loss of fat or anything like that. I never had any heart issues or heart attacks until I started taking Crestor for high cholesterol. After it got my numbers in the acceptable range I had my first heart attack. They doubled the dosage of Crestor and got my numbers really low and six months later I had my second heart attack. I don’t think the numbers mean as much as the pill pushers think they do.
