2 Dead Candidates Winning In Washington Elections

SEATTLE - Two candidates in separate races in Washington state are both leading their opponents in Tuesday's elections. Should they both hold on for victory, do not expect any long acceptance speeches. Both candidates are currently dead.

In the Seattle suburb of Des Moines, John Rosentangle won 71 percent of the vote over write-in candidates in the King County Water District 54. Rosentangle died last August of an illness. He was 63.

In a city council race on the Washington coast in Aberdeen, John Erak, also dead, is leading Alan Richrod, very much alive, with 53 percent of the vote. The 81-year-old Erak was a former state representative and died in June shortly after announcing he was running to retain his seat. As of yesterday his lead was only 12 votes, and the results weren't final.

Both men died after the filing period closed and their names could not be removed from ballots.

Should both candidates win, they will still be dead.

Either a case of very uninformed voters, or the live candidates were so bad people preferred to vote for dead guys.

Imagine being the candidate that lost an election, and your opponent was dead.

No.  They didn't have enough money to study that.  They will be asking for additional funds to cover the problems presented by gates put in the middle of the fucking road!

You sound only slightly bitter.  You run head on into a highly visible locked gate and you are bitter - it's someone else's fault.  It's always someone else's fault.  Where is Nate when you need to bash some liberal that's always blaming someone else?  Nate fills a need here and this is it.

I'm pretty sure that putting a gate in the middle of a two lane road without adequate warning to vehicular traffic is grounds for negligence on the part of the city.  If they are going to do something this blatantly against the norm of traffic control, they should have provided greater protections and alarms for public safety.  A lawsuit seems quite within reason.

Oh for goodness sake!  Whatever is wrong with you, RR?!?

Filing a lawsuit has nothing to do with being 'within reason'!!!

Just ask any ambulance chaser good attorney!
