Stuff is still pretty green here, but starting to turn - which I think is dependent on the length of daylight rather than temperature.  The weather's had highs in the mid-60's to low-70's recently, but expected to drop into the 50's next week.

That's not far out of the ordinary: Thanksgiving marks the week when pleasure boating on the Chesapeake is usually wrapped up and people winterize their boats.

They don't call our state the Evergreen state for nothing.

The evergreens in peoples yards are green but in the wild the hardwoods take over.

It's just the reverse here.  Softwood everywhere and the maple trees in people's front yards (and Alder + Madrona, etc)

Cleaning up the leaves in my yard used to take me that long too, but then I stopped picking them up one by one and started using the lawnmower and tarp instead.

My side yard was 99% from my neighbor.

The leaves were too deep for the tractor.  Lots of blowing, raking, and hauling before they were minimized enough for the tractor.  Still resulted in 20 or 30 stops with the tractor.
