Women who I personally have known and who cycled regularily outdoors several times/wk. for...several decades of their lives...I find they tend to be: abit more independent in style / personality. Cycling as a lifestyle and for primary transportation purposes, to me, requires you to become more self-sufficient. To remain safe and still enjoy riding often any time, a person learns to adopt / become self-confident ..solo. One story in particular really surprised me in a good way. I didn't read anything that I would consider feminist.
