Rattlecan ★ Posted November 13, 2021 Share #51 Posted November 13, 2021 For the last decade or more of my trucking career, there was never a spare tire on board. Flats were such an infrequent thing, that it just didn't make sense to carry the extra 400 lb or so that a spare with mounting rack adds to the rig. But back in the day, a spare tire, wrench, jack and hardwood planks were standard issue in every truck. Back then, a day without a flat was a good day, but tire technology has progressed a great deal since the dark ages.
MickinMD ★ Posted November 14, 2021 Share #52 Posted November 14, 2021 One of the things that led me to buy my 2013 Honda Fit in Jan. 2013 was that it came with a spare tire. It's one of those thin ones that you're not supposed to go over 50 mph or drive more than 70 miles, but that beats the heck out of the other subcompacts I was interested in that came with a pressurized can of fix-a-flat.
