When I drove my first hippy wagon van I sometimes had the thought  I could have had a V8. I ordered a new van with a V8 and traded the old one in.

I do not think Esther’s dad knew about the hippy van.  I believe he thought that they were walking to youth group at church.

I had the brand new van by the time I met Esther. In fact I picked it up the day before I met her. It looked somewhat respectable at that point. No hand painted mural or port hole windows yet. It had shag carpeting in the back but you wouldn’t know that without opening the doors.

Roller skating with my youth group. She got to sit in the passenger seat. The dozen youth group kids sat in the back on the shag carpet.
