Popular Post Dirtyhip Posted December 28, 2021 Popular Post Share #1 Posted December 28, 2021 This place has some awesome room to play. We have room for a pumptrack and small MTB loop. I mean it isn't @Allen quality. I have no pond. But the last few months I have been making good use of our huge tracts of land. 2.44 acres is great and just over 5 with the tresspass. OK, don't freak out. I DM'd the new owners of the property (it is in escrow) and told them I was skiing it. Someone that lives above me sold their house, and she is going to build on the lot I am having some fun on. I am very excited to have her as the new neighbor. She is around my age and seems very nice. I thinked we lucked out. The last few days I have been XC skiing on our property. There is so much powder. The property next to us is still empty and I do a little skiing over there too. I call it the tresspass line. I know for sure that my neighbors believe I am insane. This is way better than doing a hampster wheel in the house though. You have to stay fit by whatever means possible. When it gets snow, this is what I do. We were skiing the property yesterday and I said "Cowabunga." Very dorky term. HODH was cracking up. i was going down our hill and there is so much snow, I am barely moving along. Which is fine, because I am not a great at sking. Oh, as a bonus, I think I can ski all the way to the bus stop. It is early enough. I would hope I could avoid the plow. If the road is plowed, I can carry my skiis. It isn't that far to the bus. It is nice to have my skiis for lunchtime. Loving life over here. 3
petitepedal ★ Posted December 28, 2021 Share #2 Posted December 28, 2021 Well...I did 2 treadmill sessions for 70 minutes yesterday...but then..I am old..and we had ice on top of our snow..so inside was just fine. If I lived outside the big city...I would be outside too.

At one point I wondered how long I would be scrambling on the ground, before a neighbor called 911. There is no way I could do 70 minutes of running on a treadmill. I also bet you could outbench me with weights. 1

I couldn't run for 70 minutes either I am walking..between 3.2 and 3.4 mph and just recently started upping my incline between my normal 1.5 to 3.5...and that will be going up as my fitness level grows. Wish you could do a workout session with my trainer..I am sure you would rock it!

dinneR ★ Posted December 28, 2021 Share #9 Posted December 28, 2021 Skiing is an awesome winter workout. Those are some big skis. Are they backcountry Nordic skis?

If it is any consolation, my dude bought new ski boots. The snow should end by the time they arrive.

My GF and I skied Sunday. The trail had not been groomed in a while and was completely drifted over. I carved a trail following the sticks in the snow. It's slow going. It made me want some touring skis.

We've been way behind normal in snowfall this season, but it has snowed steadily the last few days. I skied Fri, Sat, and Sun. It felt good, but my legs were burning. It's nice to have your own personal ski waxer too. 1

Thank you for vindicating me in my choice of skiis. Well, one of my "friends" said my skiis are stupid, and this is why I can barely turn. I think I need new "friends." My skiis are cool and they are what I got. They do work well for this stuff...<looking at my powdery ungroomed backyard>. They are terrible for groomed or flat terrain with barely a skiff. You are working hard. This is why I am doing this, so fine.
Dirtyhip Posted December 28, 2021 Author Share #18 Posted December 28, 2021 @denniS They are Cross Country Backcountry 165 cm from Karhu. I might compar them to something like this 2022 Rossignol BC 100 Positrack Backcountry XC Touring Skis (skiessentials.com)

Waxing your skis is all part of the process but if somebody would have volunteered to do mine I would have let them.

When we started I could not glide, I just stuck to the snow. We walked back to her place and waxed mine and all was good. She did let me scrape the wax off the ski. It's okay to be rough and clumsy here.
