Airehead Posted December 29, 2021 Share #2 Posted December 29, 2021 no turkey here. I am tired of meatballs however. My dad sent like 50 home with me.
Longjohn ★ Posted December 29, 2021 Share #3 Posted December 29, 2021 I have a 20# turkey in the freezer I was planning on roasting when my son came up from Georgia for Christmas. Covid exposure canceled the trip. He is still planning on coming sometime soon. 1
Rattlecan ★ Posted December 29, 2021 Share #4 Posted December 29, 2021 Nope. We partook of a small turkey while at my step daughter's place in Halifax, and had some leftovers the next day. My son and his family are coming this Sunday, and I have an 18lb bird to cook for that, so we should have lots of leftovers. I love me some turkey leftovers. 1
ChrisL Posted December 29, 2021 Share #5 Posted December 29, 2021 We did a ham & beef roast for Christmas so no, I’m not burned out. If the LGS has a blow out sale on the remaining turkeys I’ll get one.

12string Posted December 29, 2021 Share #7 Posted December 29, 2021 We ended up with an undersized turkey and not NEARLY enough leftovers. I should cook another one. 1

dinneR ★ Posted December 29, 2021 Share #9 Posted December 29, 2021 I think turkey is overrated. I haven't made one in years. I'd rather have salmon, elk, or chicken.

Second was Vegan Lentil soup. With Brussels Sprouts that are STILL producing in the garden!
groupw Posted December 29, 2021 Share #11 Posted December 29, 2021 Nope. I smoked a Turkey breast at Thanksgiving. I think we each got a sandwich out of the leftovers! I’m going to buy one, break it down and smoke it when we get set up in AZ!
Ralphie ★ Posted December 29, 2021 Share #12 Posted December 29, 2021 It is slightly more than I would like but I am powering through it. Lots of prime rib too. One problem is it is all up to me to eat it, so that is a lot to deal with. I need to supplement it with lots of well, plants. Celery, pickles, cukes, etc.

Parsnip Totin Jack ★ Posted December 29, 2021 Share #14 Posted December 29, 2021 Leftover turkey went in the freezer after Thanksgiving. I have four pints of turkey broth so we will be having soup in January. I made seafood Gumbo for Christmas. One quart and some rice are leftover in the fridge. NYE will be Peking Duck takeout. NYD is soup and bread. I’m making posole and chicken lentil soups. Crusty baguettes again.

MickinMD ★ Posted December 29, 2021 Share #16 Posted December 29, 2021 We do Turkey for Thanksgiving and usually ham for Christmas and Easter and steamed crabs and grilled dogs, etc. for summer pool parties on the 4th of July, etc. This year, our large 12-14 people Christmas party has been delayed until Jan. 8th because my brother's BiL caught Omicron COVID. So I cooked a lasagna for a 5-person Christmas gathering and have two bricks of it left and am almost tired of it - I'm freezing one for later. I'm making golabki (Polish stuffed cabbage) for the big party, about 25-28 piggies, where a ham will also be baked plus plenty of sides and desserts. Everyone there has a Polish-American mother or grandmother. I doubt if there will be any leftovers.

The currency is plummeting again after a brief stabilization! I'd say it was a good time to visit (bang-for-your-buck) but Omicron is making that a mess, and a crazed lunatic running the country doesn't help either.
