Steelers-Cleveland

It's the Used-to-be-Steelers vs the Used-to-be-Ravens.

Still, with all the problems. Ravens coach John Harbaugh and Steelers coach Mike Tomlin both deserve Coach of the Year consideration.

The Ravens have a league-high 33 players on injured or COVID lists -and that doesn't include the five elite players they lost before the season began  There are only 15 defensive players on the 53 man roster.  The defensive backs are mostly practice squad guys and Tony Jefferson, called out of retirement.  The running backs are all cast-offs nobody wanted before the season began.  The O-line is replacements, guys playing hurt, and left tackle Villanueva who the media praised to high heaven before the season but it's been clear why the Steelers let him go.

Yet if the Ravens, 8-7, win their next two games and Miami loses at least one, the Ravens are in the playoffs.

A lot of comments on the stories on the Ravens website are saying the Ravens won't go far in the playoffs, so maybe it's better to miss them and get higher draft picks for a change.

The Ravens secondary is so beat-up and playing guys who normally can't make NFL teams that they can't stop anyone except poor QB's like Baker Mayfield and Rothlesberger is showing his age at QB.  The Steelers are surely looking at drafting his replacement next year.

If the Ravens manage to win against the Rams this week 17, they are probably in the playoffs if they beat the Steelers week 18.  One can only hope that the bad-effect of West Coast Teams Playing On The East Coast results in a miracle.

All the experts on ESPN are picking the Rams.  :)

They are playing better after having a crappy November and most of the team is back from the covid list.  I take nothing for granted in the NFL but yeah the  ods makers have the Rams favored.

I was going to ask you what you thought of the game but you summed it up pretty well…

I think McVay should also be in the discussion for coach of the year.  He lost his starting RB before the season started, his locker room leader & second option at WR in Robert Woods and was right behind your Ravens with 27 players including 5 starters in covid protocol for week 16 and 12 players with 3 starters for week 17 yet they were able to win both games.

The Ravens are playing the Rams on Sunday, week 17.  They play the Steelers on week 18, Jan 9.
