Lock 10 on the modern canal: The same lock, in 2011, after Hurricane Irene: Uh oh. Fortunately only a short street detour though... The Mohawk River from the Amsterdam pedestrian bridge Putnam's Store on the Erie Canal Yankee Hill locks, adjacent to the store Photo take about 100 years ago, with the abandoned Yankee Hill Locks, Putnam's Store, and the rail line that's now the Erie Canal Trail. Mohawk River/Barge Canal on the right. The farm house and barns in the upper left are still there, but are now abandoned too. The remains of the Schoharie Aqueduct, which carried the Erie Canal across the Schoharie Creek so the canal boats didn't have to traverse the cross-currents of the creek. That makes 3 flats in about 600 miles since I got my new rims and had to stop riding gatorskins. I got stuck behind the school bus at the first stop. As soon as the stop sign shut I sprinted past and stayed on it until I got past the next group of students! After work, I installed the replacement Slime tube in the Varsity. This one seems to seat and hold air.
