Why don't Sheldon and Missy have Texas accents?

It's 6 am, I couldn't get back to sleep, so I turned on the TV.  Nothing good except a rerun of Young Sheldon.

My sleep-refreshed brain was cognizant enough to ask why Sheldon and Missy don't have Southwestern accents like their parents, brother, Meemaw, and the thousands of people at school, etc.?

Maybe Sheldon is studied enough to prefer "can't" to "cain't," and so on but certainly not Missy.  What's going on there?

Now Sheldon's pissing me off and taking a dig at my career.  Dad looks at his homework and says, "Looks complicated."

Sheldon replies, "Advanced Chemistry: it's not."

And all with a mid-America accent.

I would hope so! :D

I can show you teachers, cops, military folks, and all number of "normal" folks who retired multi-millionaires!  There are smart people everywhere (and dopes), and it is wrong to judge folks by their job titles just like it is wrong to judge them by their net worth.  Neither shows any real insight into a person.  I like "people" not "professions", and this place (the Cafe) has a nice representation of folks across the whole spectrum, and it is nice to see how "normal" and good most are regardless of where they live, what they do, and how much they have/don't have.

On the other hand, Chevy Chase movies were often a hoot! And those two were more wily than their dirty clothes portrayed.  Wolves in sheep's clothing?
