Razors Edge ★ Posted January 5, 2022 Share #1 Posted January 5, 2022 Is this for real or just another thing that drives us nuts (like turning off all electronics during take-off/landing)?
12string Posted January 5, 2022 Share #2 Posted January 5, 2022 I'm also curious. From what I've read, someone somewhere re-raised a concern about an issue they think the FCC didn't adequately examine in one of the bands purchased for 5G use. That band is near one used for aircraft height communication. But the FCC is usually ridiculously overprotective about interference, especially in aircraft.. Not to say they couldn't have overlooked something, but 5G has been up and running and I haven't heard of any planes hanging around 25 feet in the air still, thinking they're on the ground. maddmaxx ★ Posted January 5, 2022 Share #6 Posted January 5, 2022 So after reading that it's real and the ultimate change will be made to the aircraft because cell phones are important. It also seems that it's the technology on the ground in towers as well as the phones in or around the planes.

Then you have to look at the systems that take input from the RA's like gear warnings, auto thrust, auto land, auto speed and pressurization. Dottleshead ★ Posted January 5, 2022 Share #13 Posted January 5, 2022 As the pilot, what's your clue that someone on your plane has just turned on a 5G network? Just, "Marge, the plane's acting funny."?
