jsharr ★ Posted October 10, 2014 Share #2 Posted October 10, 2014 Adding Frito's™, grated cheese, chopped onions and sour cream are allowed under the Texas Chili Rules, amended 1857. Those 1857 Texicans were visionary.

jsharr ★ Posted October 10, 2014 Share #7 Posted October 10, 2014 Sharp cheddar is acceptable. Sour Cream is acceptable. Fritos suck. So do you. Frito's™ Chili Pie is one of the best things you can make with chili. Chili dogs are second. Chil con carne y huevos is a close third and could be second if it was just a touch more American. Frito's™ by themselves are considerably less desirable that when they are topped with chili and cheese and chopped onions.

Ralphie ★ Posted October 12, 2014 Share #12 Posted October 12, 2014 Does Texas have a chili purity law like the German beer one? This is an argument like I used to have with Peds over in the old country. I am for fusion/bastardization, where he is a stiff upper lip Brit traditionalist, like jsharrt with Texas. Hummus was our subject. I favoured substituting PB for tahini.

Dirtyhip Posted February 16, 2019 Share #17 Posted February 16, 2019 There was a chili pot luck yesterday at work. Four of the five choices had beans. Only one was authentic. I voted for the one without the beans for @jsharr. I am not a barbarian. Honest.
