Tizeye Posted January 10, 2022 Share #8 Posted January 10, 2022 I went to their practice in Thirsk twice went traveling through Yorkshire. They would open their practice to the public at 1:00 on Wednesdays. While people would line up outside waiting, still remember the informality as at 1:00 James Harriet (Alf White was his real name) would stick his head out the front door and motion to come on in. About 25 people would gather in the exam room for an informal meeting with James Harriet - free, passed donation far around for animal fund non-profit. When exploring the dales, you may recall the intro of the original series the car goes through a splash then winds down a road into a town. While they are not publicized/tourist sites, with map study we found both. Pulled over and had lunch at the splash.Kids put their Wellies on and stomped in the water. 1
Tizeye Posted January 10, 2022 Share #9 Posted January 10, 2022 Update to above post. When returned to the States, daughter was in 2nd grade. A class assignment was to write a paper on a famous person. Most of her classmates chose George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, etc. Our daughter wrote about James Herriot and attached this photo of her standing next to him as he autographed books. The teacher freaked out when she saw it. Incidentally, that doghouse is what was passed around for donations. 1

They are like a collection of short stories, so nice bedtime reading.
MoseySusan Posted January 10, 2022 Share #12 Posted January 10, 2022 We binge watched Season 1 of All Creatures before starting Season 2. It was a nice contrast to The Witcher on Netflix.
