Origin of the tank top

I've always wondered and think about looking it up. But one of those things you try to remember what you wanted to look up but could never remember when you get the time. 😄

I found out that the term came from 'swimming tank' which is what swimming pools were called back in the day.  You would put your tank suit on to go for a swim.

Later, just the top become a thing, so tank top came from that.

The end.

Okay mister smarty pants, explain this one.

Strangely, the first tank with it's armaments inside a fully rotating turret was the French Renault FT17.  I guess the rotation was needed so you could fire behind you as you ran away?

Are you trying to describe the French armor transmission with 2 forward speeds and 4 in reverse?  That was Italian.

The pictures you people are posting are NOT the ones that would make this thread useful.

Before kids my wife would wear my tank tops around the house.  I thought it was sexy as hell.  Soon after that she became pregnant & stopped wearing them… 😂
