I need to get me a primary doc. I have to many high level surgeons :D

Many years ago my work insurance made us find a PCP and get an annual physical . I have had one ever since but not the same one. They seem to move around a lot. All but one have been female and I like that better.

I’m on my 3rd Dr in a year..  Early 2021 my Dr left the area.  My New Dr was great but in the fall of 21 she went on a LOA and still hasn’t returned.  I had my first appt with Dr #3 a few weeks ago.

I actually liked Dr #2 best and if she returns from her LOA I’ll go back to her. If not I’ll stick with #3.

Does she work for the same practice or health care system that your previous doctor worked for?

For me, the continuity is important.

Yes.  There is a very large practice group in my County that has a number of buildings with various specialists, labs and their own urgent care centers. It's definitely the most convenient and I like the fact that the info from my dermatologist or other specialists are all recorded in the same place. When my doctor moved to management, her office called with two recommendations for replacement doctors, but I really had no basis to choose between them so it was a random choice.

I always chose young in hopes they won’t retire and I have to do this all over. Then I chose female because they seem to really care, and third I chose pretty just because.

Both of my neurologists were male. The first one was great. He did all the preliminary work. And was the person who eventually referred me to the MS specialists at Inova. The neurologist I dealt mainly with there was a grumpy, matter of fact, almost no bedside manner type of doctor. Actually, reminds me of House on tv.  But I’m forceful and we’d get into it a little. And honestly, that made me laugh. 😆I liked him.

All of my physicians are female.  My neuro retired.  I loved that man.  I actually looked forward to my checkup with him.   He had great bedside manner and we got along very well.  MY husband always was with me for my appt.  He would always joke about HoDH about me being athletic, feisty and stubborn.  :D  I miss that guy.  I hope he is busy traveling and enjoying his well deserved retirement.

I've had the same doctor for over 15 years, but she recently announced that she's moving full time into management at the medical practice and I had to get a new doctor.  I had my first appointment with the new doctor yesterday and she seemed very nice, but her approach seems much lighter than my prior doctor.  The physical seemed to check fewer things and she wants to see me less frequently, but she seemed to focus on the big items.  Do I really need to have that reflex that makes your leg kick up checked?

I think I like her enough to stay with her, but the real test will be how she handles it when something is wrong. She seems like I could talk to her without being intimidated which is important, but generally change is bad.

Hope she is fine over time.

I had a great doctor until she left the province 4 years ago. So I was assigned to doctor, who is at least 20 yrs. younger than my sister-doc. which is fine. She is fine and personable. There are a number of physicians at the practice where I go, which I consider a good thing because they can share knowledge amongst one another and share the caseload when volumes increase /things get difficult ie. during pandemic just more measures to put into place. It 's always good to share that extra burden with other professionals.

My first PCP was my age.  I was happy about that.  I was expecting we would grow old together.   That plan ended when he went to prison, for a long time.

My second PCP was my doc for about 25 years.   Then he retired 3 years ago.

I now have a third PCP doc.   But there are rumors he may move to a different city.

it was real bad....     This was back when video cameras were just starting to be made.   The bastard would 'examine' children (no parent in the room) and have video of the examination to sell.

Yeah... I'm glad he's still in prison.    A doctor should be more than trustworthy...  this was horrible.
