It doesn't hurt to have a relationship with an estate lawyer.  Even though my mother-in-law had a Trust, she also set up the distribution one of her daughter’s inheritance, Mrs. Silly's Sister #2, over an extended time.  When Sister #2 started bugging Mrs. Silly to get her money early, Mrs. Silly referred her to the estate lawyer.  It was easier for the estate lawyer to tell Sister #2 'no' without increasing family tensions.

Also even though a Trust can help you through probate, it is hard to completely avoid probate.  An estate lawyer can help you there.  Also, when someone dies, you'll get calls from collectors some of which may have questionable claims.  If people bug you, you can simply refer them to the estate lawyer.
