Dirtyhip Posted February 26, 2022 Share #4 Posted February 26, 2022 Faux Thanksgiving today. Turkey, stuffing, yams, bread, mashed taters, salad, cranberry and two pies. My gathering is 2 couples and ourselves. There may be a kid or two. One is a teen, so I don't know if he is coming or not.

Dirtyhip Posted February 26, 2022 Share #8 Posted February 26, 2022 Oh, TUESDAY. Never really subscribed to this celebration. People don't really do it out here. I have never done the lent thing, or know much about Mardi Gras. Forgive my comment, cause I know so little about "Fat Tuesday." 1

petitepedal ★ Posted February 26, 2022 Author Share #10 Posted February 26, 2022 Mardi Gras is a wild and crazy time between Christmas and Fat Tuesday. Fat Tuesday..the day before Ash Wednesday..and the beginning of Lent..a time when many Christians fast and pray in preparation for the Tridum (Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter) The party aspect now a days is mostly the week before Ash Wednesday.. Traditionally, on Fat Tuesday Christians would use up the cooking fat..with pancakes or baked goods..because Lent meant abstaining from excess food or drink..and "giving up" these things

OR maybe I'll make 6 meals worth of my Linguine, Shrimp, Asparagus, Onions and Peas Alfredo and freeze most of it in meal-size portions. 1

Kirby Posted February 27, 2022 Share #18 Posted February 27, 2022 I used to bring a king cake into work, but then I had to put up big signs warning people not to choke on the little plastic king baby.

Airehead Posted February 27, 2022 Share #20 Posted February 27, 2022 Our bakery won’t install the baby. They put him in a ziplock bag in the box. Install at your own risk.
