shootingstar Posted March 20, 2022 Share #1 Posted March 20, 2022 One of your Prez. in fog of history, Jackson Jackson had a pet parrot named Poll. He bought the parrot, an African Gray, in 1827. Parrots can live 50 years or more, and Poll was still alive and well when Jackson died in 1845. The funeral was held at The Hermitage, Jackson’s home in Tennessee. Poll was in attendance, and he cursed and swore so loudly, he had to be removed. The Reverend William Menefee Norment described the incident: “Before the sermon and while the crowd was gathering, a wicked parrot that was a household pet got excited and commenced swearing… and had to be carried from the house… (the bird) let loose perfect gusts of cuss words… (people were) horrified and awed at the bird’s lack of reverence.”
Square Wheels Posted March 20, 2022 Share #2 Posted March 20, 2022 Birds like that are a one person animal and become fiercely attached to their human. They are also very loud. It was probably heart broken.
Further Posted March 20, 2022 Share #3 Posted March 20, 2022 A guy from work is struggling with who to pass his cockatiel on to. He has had the bird for years, he got it from an old woman who held interviews where she watched potential new owners spend an hour with the bird before selling it to my friend for well below market value. He is now close to 70 and thinks the bird will outlive him, but he is not ready to pass it on yet.
